According to section 216(4) of the Electoral Act, an independent candidate must submit a ‘disclosure return’ when a donation received equals or exceeds the disclosure threshold. The disclosure threshold for financial year 2025-26 is $1290,
with the annual MAX for a 'new entrant' candidate from one donor of $10.380 (see VEC Indexation page).
